Did you perform the Lighting System Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Place the ignition in the OFF position.
  2. Remove the ignition key from the ignition.
  3. Turn the IP dimmer switch to the DOME position.

Do the courtesy lamps operate from the IP dimmer switch?

Go to Step 3

Go to Courtesy Lamps Inoperative

  1. Turn the IP dimmer switch to the OFF position.
  2. Open and close each door one at a time waiting for the courtesy lamps to turn off before opening the next door.
  3. Observe the courtesy lamps.

Do the courtesy lamps illuminate for each door?

Go to Step 4

  1. Close all doors.
  2. Unlock the vehicle doors using the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) system.
  3. Observe the courtesy lamps.

Do the courtesy lamps illuminate?

Go to Step 5

  1. Place the ignition in the ON position.
  2. Close all doors.
  3. Turn the ignition in the OFF position.
  4. Wait for the courtesy lamps to turn off.
  5. Remove the ignition key from the ignition.
  6. Observe the courtesy lamps.

Do the courtesy lamps illuminate?

Determine under which of the following parameters the illuminated entry feature is inoperative:

    • Inoperative from the drivers door
    • Inoperative from one door other than the drivers door
    • Inoperative from all doors other than the drivers door

Is the illuminated entry feature inoperative when the drivers doors is opened?

Does the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter unlock and lock the doors?

  1. Disconnect the driver door lock.
  2. Using a test lamp connected to battery positive voltage, probe the ground circuit of the driver door lock.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 16

Is the illuminated entry feature inoperative from only one door other than the drivers door?

Go to Step 10

  1. Disconnect the inoperative door lock.
  2. Using a test lamp connected to battery positive voltage, probe the ground circuit of the inoperative door lock.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 11

  1. Close all other doors.
  2. Connect a fused jumper between the inoperative door latch switch signal circuit and ground.
  3. Observe the courtesy lamps.

Do the courtesy lamps illuminate?

  1. Place the ignition key in the ignition.
  2. Turn the ignition in the OFF position.
  3. Open the driver door.

Does the key in ignition audible chime sound?

  1. Remove the ignition key in the ignition.
  2. Open the driver door open.

Test for an open or high resistance in the inoperative door latch switch signal circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the Body Control Module (BCM). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the inoperative door lock. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair an open or high resistance in the ground circuit of the LF door lock. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

If the courtesy lamps are inoperative from all doors other than the drivers door, repair an open or high resistance in the secondary door latch switch signal circuit of the BCM. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the Body Control Module (BCM). Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control Systems.

  1. Connect all connector and components that were disconnected.
  2. Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
