Removal Procedure
- Remove the rear door water deflector. Refer to
Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement
.
- Disconnect the rear door outside handle rod from the rear door lock.
- Disconnect the rear door inside handle rods.
- Disconnect the rear door inside handle rods from the rear door inside rod block.
- Remove the rear door lock screws (1, 2, 3,).
- Remove the rear door lock from the rear door.
- Disconnect the rear door lock electrical connectors.
- Remove the rear door inside handle rods from the rear door lock.
Installation Procedure
- Install the rear door inside handle rods to the rear door lock.
- Connect the rear door lock electrical connectors.
- Position the rear door lock into the rear door.
- Apply Locktite® Blue GM P/N 12345382, or Canadian P/N 10953489, or equivalent prior to installing the rear door lock screws.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the rear door lock screws in the correct fastener tightening sequence (top, bottom, middle, 1, 2, 3).
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Connect the rear door inside handle rods.
- Connect the rear door inside handle rods to the rear door inside rod block.
- Connect the rear door outside handle rod to the rear door lock.
- Install the rear door water deflector. Refer to
