Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 315802 Size: MH

    Important: In order to minimize door realignment, do not remove both door hinges at the same time. Do each door hinge separately, and replace a broken door hinge first.

  1. Open and support the front door.
  2. Remove the intermediate door hinge bolts.
  3. Remove the hinge spring.
  4. Move the door away from the front pillar as far as the conduit will allow.
  5. Clean the hinge mounting surfaces on the door with a rag and mark the hinge location on the door surface with a grease pencil or other suitable marker.
  6. Remove the bolts from the door side hinge.
  7. Remove the door side hinge.
  8. Clean the hinge mounting surfaces on the body side with a rag and mark the hinge location on the body surface with a grease pencil or other suitable marker.
  9. Remove the bolts from the body side hinge.
  10. Remove the body side hinge.

Installation Procedure
  1. Install the new hinge in the position with the old alignment marks.

    2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Important: Locite® Blue GM P/N 12345382 or equivalent should be used prior to the fastener installation.

  2. Install the bolts to the body side hinge.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the body side hinge bolts to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

  3. Install the bolts to the door side hinge.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the door side hinge bolts to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

  4. Position the door to install the intermediate door hinge bolts.
  5. Install the hinge spring.
  6. Install the intermediate door hinge bolts.

    7. Tighten
    Tighten the intermediate hinge bolts to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

  7. Remove the door support.
  8. Adjust the door if necessary. Refer to Front Side Door Adjustment .
  9. Close the front door.
