Tools Required

J 29843-9 Door Lock Striker and Seat Belt Torx® Wrench

Important: The driver's front seat belt assembly attaches to the body side frame locking B-pillar.

1. Unsnap the shoulder belt guide plastic cover (2).
2. Remove the front seat belt upper guide loop anchor nut.
3. Remove the center pillar upper trim panel. Refer to Upper Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement in Interior Trim.
4. Remove the center pillar lower trim panel. Refer to Lower Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement in Interior Trim.
5. Unsnap the plastic escutcheon (3) where the retractor side seat belt webbing exits B-pillar trim.



6. Use the J 29843-9 in order to remove the bolt (3) from the seat belt retractor (2).
7. Remove the seat belt retractor from the B-pillar (1).
8. Loosen the two front seat nuts securing the front seat to the floor.
9. Remove the two rear seat nuts securing the front seat to the floor.



10. Raise the rear of the seat in order to remove the retractor side seat belt anchor bracket (5) from the seat stud (4).
11. Remove the push on the retainer (6) from the seat stud (4).
12. Remove the retractor side belt (1) from the vehicle.

Tools Required

J 29843-9 Door Lock Striker and Seat Belt Torx® Wrench

1. Install the retractor side belt (1) to the vehicle.
2. Install the retractor side seat belt anchor bracket (5) to the seat stud (4).

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

3. Install the nuts securing the front seat/retractor side seat belt (1) lower anchor bracket to the floor.

Tighten
Tighten the front seat/retractor side seat belt lower anchor nuts to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).




4. Install the seat belt retractor (2) to the B-pillar (1).
5. Use the J 29843-9 in order to install the retractor bolt (3).

Tighten
Tighten the front seat belt retractor bolt to 43 N·m (32 lb ft).




6. Snap the plastic escutcheon (3) into the B-pillar trim where the retractor side seat belt webbing exits.
7. Install the center pillar lower trim panels. Refer to Lower Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement in Interior Trim.
8. Install the center pillar upper trim panels. Refer to Upper Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement in Interior Trim.
9. Install the nut securing the front seat belt upper guide loop anchor (2) to the B-pillar.

Tighten
Tighten the front seat belt upper guide loop anchor nut to 29 N·m (21 lb ft).

10. Snap the plastic shoulder belt guide cover to the adjuster bracket (2).
