Did you perform the Instrument Cluster System Check ?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Disconnect the instrument cluster connector C2.
  3. Turn the HEAD/PARK lamp switch to the PARK or HEAD position.
  4. Turn the dimmer control to LOW.
  5. Measure voltage from the instrument cluster connector C2 terminal E4 to ground.

Does the measured voltage equal the specified value?

12 V

Inspect CKT 32 (YEL) for an open or a short to ground.

Is CKT (YEL) open or shorted to ground?

Measure voltage from the instrument cluster connector C2 terminal E1 to ground while you adjust the dimmer control.

Does voltage vary with the dimmer control?

--

Go to Step 7

Inspect CKT 8 (GRY) for the following conditions:

  1. An open
  2. High resistance
  3. A short to ground

Is there a problem with CKT 8 (GRY)?

  1. Inspect the HEAD/PARK lamp switch connector for proper terminal contact.
  2. If OK, replace the HEAD/PARK lamp switch. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement.

Is the replacement complete?

  1. Inspect the instrument cluster connector C2 for proper terminal contract at terminal E4 and terminal E1.
  2. If OK, replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .

Repair open or short to ground in CKT 32 (YEL). Refer to Repairing Damaged Wire Insulation in Wiring Systems.

Repair a short to ground or high resistance in CKT 8. Refer to Repairing Damaged Wire Insulation in Wiring Systems.

  1. Disconnect the headlamp switch. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement.
  2. Measure the voltage from the headlamp switch connector cavity J CKT 8 (GRY) to ground.

Is the voltage greater than the specified value?

0 V

Repair the short to voltage in CKT 8 (GRY). Refer to Repairing Damaged Wire Insulation in Wiring Systems.
