Rear Compartment Switch Replacement Pontiac

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 401166  Size: SH
  1. Using a small thin flat bladed tool carefully pry the rear compartment release switch (1) from the drivers door panel.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  3. Remove the switch (1).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 401166  Size: SH
  1. Connect the electrical connector.
  2. Align the switch (1) to the door panel.
  3. Push inward to secure the switch (1) to the door panel.

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Instrument Panel Knee Bolster .

  2. Object Number: 324783  Size: MH
  3. Disengage the retainers fastening the rear compartment lid release switch (5) or the rear compartment lid release switch/fog lamp switch (5).
  4. Remove the switch (5).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 324783  Size: MH
  1. Install the switch (5) to the knee bolster.
  2. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Instrument Panel Knee Bolster .

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 324796  Size: SH
  1. Remove the instrument panel trim plate. Refer to Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement .
  2. Remove the rear compartment release switch fasteners.
  3. Partially remove the switch (2).
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  5. Remove the switch (2).

Installation Procedure

  1. Partially install the rear compartment release switch (2).
  2. Connect the electrical connector.
  3. Install the switch (2).
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the switch fasteners.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 1.9 N·m (17 lb in).

  7. Install the instrument panel trim plate. Refer to Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement .
