Wipers Delay Mode Inoperative Pulse

Did you perform the Wiper/Washer System Check?

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect wiper/washer switch connector.
  3. Set the wiper switch to DELAY.
  4. Measure the resistance through wiper/washer switch connector from terminal A3 to terminal D3 with a DMM set to the Ohms scale.
  5. Move the wiper switch through the entire delay range.

Does the resistance vary within the specified range?

39 kohms to 680 kohms

Replace the wiper/washer switch. Refer to Multifunction Turn Signal Lever Replacement - On Vehicle .

  1. Reconnect the wiper/washer switch connector.
  2. Disconnect the wiper motor connector.
  3. Turn the ignition to ON.
  4. Set the wiper switch to HI.
  5. Measure the voltage from the wiper speed input circuit, terminal G, to a good ground with a DMM.

Does the voltage measure within the specified range?

10.5-15.5 V

Repair the open in wiper speed signal circuit, CKT 477. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the wiper motor. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  2. Move the wiper switch to the second highest sensitivity position (one position away from OFF).

  1. Disconnect the outside moisture sensor connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the ignition positive voltage circuit and the ground circuit of the outside moisture sensor connector.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Connect a test lamp between the ignition positive voltage circuit of the outside moisture sensor connector and a good ground.

Repair the open in the ignition positive voltage circuit of the outside moisture sensor. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Disconnect the wiper motor connector.
  2. Connect a DMM set to Ohms scale between wiper motor connector terminal F and outside moisture sensor connector (harness side) terminal 5.

Inspect for dirty glass or a clouded outside moisture sensor attachment. If the windshield is clean and the adhesive tape is not clouded, replace the outside moisture sensor. Refer to Windshield Outside Moisture Sensor Replacement .

Move the wiper switch from the fourth highest sensitivity position to the fifth highest sensitivity position
