For 1990-2009 cars only
- Install the wave washer (1).
- A new inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil will be precentered. Do not remove the orange tab until installation is complete. Do not depress the tab (1) on the back of the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil.
- If reusing the original inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil, it must be centered first. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Coil Centering - Off Vehicle .
- Align the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil (2) with the horn tower sticking through the shaft lock shield assembly (1).
- Install the retaining ring (1).
- Install the black inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil connector to the fused jumper assembly connector.
- Install the 4 wire harness straps.
- Install the wire harness assembly into the wire restraint clip (1).
- Install the upper and lower trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers - Assemble - Off Vehicle .
Important: The retaining ring (1) must seat securely on the groove of the shaft assembly (2).
