Did you perform the Lighting System Diagnostic System Check?

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Lighting Systems

Important:: Vehicle shift lever must be out of the PARK position in order for the daytime running lamps (DRL) to operate.

1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
2. Verify the wipers are in the OFF position.
3. Position the headlight switch in the OFF position.
4. Depress and hold the brake pedal.
5. Move the gear selector out of park position.
6. Expose the sunload sensor assembly to a bright light.
7. Wait more than 20 seconds.
8. Observe the DRL lamps.
9. Cover the sunload sensor assembly.
10. Wait more than 20 seconds.
11. Position the gear selector in the park position.
12. Release the brake pedal.
13. Turn OFF the ignition.

Did the DRL operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Do the high beam headlamps operate properly?

Go to Step 4

Go to Headlamps Inoperative - High Beams or Headlamp Low or High Beams Always On

1. Install a scan tool.
2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
3. Turn On the headlamps.
4. With the scan tool, command the Daytime Running Lamps ON and OFF from the dash integration module (DIM) Output Control data list.

Did the DRL headlamps turn ON and OFF with each command?

Go to Step 11

Go to Step 5

1. Turn OFF the ignition.
2. Disconnect the DRL relay. Refer to Relay Replacement in Wiring Systems.
3. Connect a test lamp between the DRL relay control side supply voltage circuit and a good ground.
4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

Connect a test lamp between the DRL relay switch side supply voltage circuit and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 14

1. Turn OFF the ignition.
2. Connect a test lamp between the DRL relay control side supply voltage circuit and the DRL relay control circuit.
3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
4. With a scan tool, command the Daytime Running Lamps ON and OFF.

Does the test lamp turn ON and OFF with each command?

Go to Step 9

Test for an open circuit or a short to battery positive voltage in the DRL relay control circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 17

Test for an open or a short to ground in the left headlamp high beam/DRL control circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the DRL relay. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the dash integration module (DIM). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

1. Perform the setup procedure for the DIM. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Body Control System.
2. Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?

System OK

Repair open circuit in the DRL relay control side supply voltage circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Repair open circuit in the DRL relay switch side supply voltage circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Replace the DRL relay. Refer to Relay Replacement in Wiring Systems.

Important:: After replacement perform the setup procedure for the DIM. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Body Control System.

Replace the DIM. Refer to Dash Integration Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Did you complete the replacement?

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
