Removal Procedure

Tools Required

    • J 25034-C Pulley Remover.
    • J 25033-C Pulley Installer.

  1. Remove the pump drive belt.
  2. Disconnect the power steering gear outlet hose from the pump. Refer to Power Steering Hoses Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 254768  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the power steering gear inlet hose from the pump. Refer to Power Steering Hoses Replacement .
  5. Disconnect the sensor electrical connector from the power steering pump.

  6. Object Number: 254772  Size: SH
  7. Remove the two mounting bolts.
  8. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  9. Remove the pump from beneath the engine.
  10. Remove the pump and transfer the pulley as needed. Refer toJ 25034-C .

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the pump with the pulley. Refer toJ 25033-C .
  2. Install the two mounting bolts.

  3. Object Number: 254768  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Connect the power steering gear inlet hose to the pump.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering gear inlet hose to the pump to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  6. Connect the power steering gear return hose to the pump.
  7. Install the pump mounting bolts.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the pump mounting bolts to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Install the drive belt.
  11. Fill the system.
  12. Bleed the system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
  13. Inspect the system for leaks.
