Important: When repairing any wiring associated with the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system, always use the crimp and seal splice sleeves contained within J-38125 .

The dash panel wiring harness contains the fuse block assembly. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Restraints.

Analog Speedometer

INSERT APPROPRIATE NOTICE The speedometer has a high torque needle indicator. A speed sensor at the transaxle sends electrical pulses to the powertrain control module (PCM) which buffers and converts the electrical pulse to speed signals. The speed signals are sent to the electronics in the speedometer, which converts the electronics to mechanical movement. In some cases, the electronic pulses also control a stepper motor which drives the odometer.

The domestic and export models come with English/metric switches in order to show displays in mph or km/h.

The following are levels of speedometer driver information center (DIC) clusters:

    • The base level speedometer cluster with no DIC
    • The upper level speedometer cluster with the DIC

Indicator/Warning Lamps

The instrument cluster/indicator warning lamps are located in the DIC or at either side of the cluster. The instrument cluster/indicator warning lamps alert the driver to the following vehicle conditions:

    • The following displays are located on the left side of the cluster or both cluster levels:
       - CRUISE
       - OIL
       - VOLT
       - SERVICE ENGINE SOON
    • The following displays are located to the right of the speedometer:
       - BRAKE
       - ABS
       - SECURITY
       - SERVICE VEHICLE SOON
       - TRAC OFF
    • The following displays are on the face of the cluster:
       - AIR BAG
       - TURN SIGNAL
       - HIGH BEAM
       - FASTEN SEAT BELT

Driver Information Center (Optional)

The driver information center (DIC) controls are mounted in the left IP trim plate next to the cluster. The DIC in the bottom of the cluster provides the following useful travel and performance information:

    • Battery voltage
    • Date/time information
    • Fuel information
    • Various warnings
    • Oil pressure
    • Remaining oil life and oil change information
    • Coolant temperature
    • Tire pressure

Refer to Diagnostic System Check - Instrument Cluster .

Head Up Display (HUD) (Optional)

The HUD module is located inside of the IP carrier directly behind the speedometer cluster. The control switches are located in the overhead console. Refer to Head Up Display (HUD) System Check .

Heater and A/C Control Assembly

The electronic heater and the A/C control assembly have electronic switches for selecting operating mode(s) and the desired in-vehicle (set) temperature. Refer to Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning.

Radio

Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment for repair procedrures. Refer to Radio/Audio System Check in Entertainment for diagnosis information.
