Condition

Action

There is air in the power steering fluid.

  1. Inspect the power steering fluid. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid .
  2. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .

The power steering fluid level is low due to one of the following conditions:

    • Improper initial fill of the power steering system
    • Power steering system leak
  1. Inspect the power steering system for leaks. Refer to Power Steering Gear and Pump Leaks . Inspect the power steering fluid level. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid .
  2. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .

The power steering pump mounting is loose.

Tighten the power steering pump mounting to specification.

Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .

The power steering pressure line is grounded out.

  1. Inspect the power steering pressure line.
  2. Adjust the power steering pressure line for proper mounting and correct clearance. Refer to Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement .
