Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the engine sight shield.
    2. • Vehicles equipped with LTD/U20XE--Refer to Engine Sight Shield Replacement.
    • Vehicles equipped with LE5/U24XE--Refer to Engine Sight Shield Replacement.
  2. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct.
    3. • Vehicles equipped with LTD/U20XE--Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement.
    • Vehicles equipped with LE5/U24XE--Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement.
  3. Remove the fuel feed front pipe.
    4. • Vehicles equipped with LTD/U20XE--Refer to Fuel Feed Pipe Replacement.
    • Vehicles equipped with LE5/U24XE--Refer to Fuel Feed Pipe Replacement.
  4. Remove the fuel injection fuel rail.
    5. • Vehicles equipped with LTD/U20XE--Refer to Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement.
    • Vehicles equipped with LE5/U24XE--Refer to Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement.
  5. Remove the throttle body assembly.
    6. • Vehicles equipped with LTD/U20XE--Refer to Throttle Body Assembly Replacement.
    • Vehicles equipped with LE5/U24XE--Refer to Throttle Body Assembly Replacement.
  6. Remove the oil level indicator and tube.
    7. • Vehicles equipped with LTD/U20XE--Refer to Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement.
    • Vehicles equipped with LE5/U24XE--Refer to Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement.
  7. Remove the evaporative emission front pipe.
    8. • Vehicles equipped with LTD/U20XE--Refer to Fuel Tank Filler Evaporative Emission Pipe Replacement.
    • Vehicles equipped with LE5/U24XE--Refer to Fuel Tank Filler Evaporative Emission Pipe Replacement.

  8. Disconnect the wiring harness connector (1).
  9. Release the 2 wiring harnesses (2).

    10. Object Number: 2156589 Size: SH
  10. Remove the 7 fasteners (1) from the intake manifold (2).

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 2156589 Size: SH

    Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Install the intake manifold fasteners (1) and tighten to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  2. Install the 2 wiring harnesses (2).
  3. Connect the wiring harness connector (1).
  4. Install the evaporative emission front pipe.
    5. • Vehicles equipped with LTD/U20XE--Refer to Fuel Tank Filler Evaporative Emission Pipe Replacement.
    • Vehicles equipped with LE5/U24XE--Refer to Fuel Tank Filler Evaporative Emission Pipe Replacement.
  5. Install the oil level indicator and tube.
    6. • Vehicles equipped with LTD/U20XE--Refer to Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement.
    • Vehicles equipped with LE5/U24XE--Refer to Oil Level Indicator Tube Replacement.
  6. Install the throttle body assembly.
    7. • Vehicles equipped with LTD/U20XE--Refer to Throttle Body Assembly Replacement.
    • Vehicles equipped with LE5/U24XE--Refer to Throttle Body Assembly Replacement.
  7. Install the fuel injection fuel rail.
    8. • Vehicles equipped with LTD/U20XE--Refer to Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement.
    • Vehicles equipped with LE5/U24XE--Refer to Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement.
  8. Install the fuel feed front pipe.

  9. Install the air cleaner outlet duct.
    10. • Vehicles equipped with LTD/U20XE--Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement.

  10. Install the engine sight shield.
