Oil Pan Cleaning and Inspection LDK

  1. Clean the oil pan (1) mating surface.

  2. Object Number: 2146366  Size: SH
  3. Remove the oil pan baffle bolts.
  4. Note: Do not remove the pickup screen. It is press-fit into the oil pan.

  5. Remove the oil pan baffle (1).
  6. Clean the oil pan (2). Remove all the sludge and the oil deposits.
  7. Inspect the engine oil drain plug threads.
  8. Inspect the oil pan for cracking near the pan rail and the transmission mounting points.
  9. Inspect the oil pan for cracking resulting from impact or flying road debris.
  10. Inspect the oil pan baffle and pickup screen.
  11. Install the oil pan baffle.
  12. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  13. Install the oil pan baffle bolts and tighten to 14 N·m 10 lb ft.

  15. Clean and inspect the oil level sensor (1). Ensure that the float (2) moves freely within the sensor and the oil holes are clear of debris and not obstructed.

  1. Clean the oil pan mating surface (2).
  2. Clean the oil pan (1). Remove all the sludge and the oil deposits.
  3. Inspect the threads for the engine oil drain plug.
  4. Inspect the oil pan for cracking near the pan rail and the transmission mounting points.
  5. Inspect the oil pan for cracking resulting from impact or flying road debris.
  6. Note: The oil pan baffle and pickup screen are not removable from the oil pan.

  7. Inspect the oil pan baffle and pickup screen.
  8. Repair or replace the oil pan as necessary.
