Binding ball joints

1. Inspect the ball joints. Refer to Suspension Component Inspection in Front Suspension.
2. Replace the ball joints if necessary. Refer to Lower Control Arm Ball Joint Replacement in Front Suspension.

Front wheels out of alignment

1. Inspect the front wheel alignment. Refer to Wheel Alignment Measurement in Wheel Alignment.
2. Perform the front wheel alignment if necessary. Refer to Wheel Alignment Measurement in Wheel Alignment.

Sticking power steering gear valve

1. Flush the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Flushing .
2. Refill the power steering system. Refer to Refilling the Power Steering System .
3. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
4. Replace the power steering gear if problem persists. Refer to Steering Gear Replacement .

Loose power steering gear

Tighten the power steering gear mounting bolts to specification.

Refer to Steering Gear Replacement .

Intermediate steering shaft pinch bolt torque too high

Tighten the intermediate steering shaft pinch bolt to specification.

Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column-Tilt.

Rack bearing preload misadjusted (too high)

Tighten the rack bearing preload to specification. Refer to Steering Gear Rack Bearing Preload Adjustment - Off Vehicle .

Binding steering column

1. Inspect the steering column alignment.
2. Adjust the steering column alignment if necessary. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column-Tilt.
3. Inspect the steering column mounting.
4. Repair the steering column mounting if necessary. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column-Tilt.
5. Inspect the steering column bearing. Refer to Steering Shaft, Lower Bearing, and Jacket - Disassemble - Off Vehicle
6. Replace the steering column bearing if necessary. Refer to Steering Shaft, Lower Bearing, and Jacket - Disassemble - Off Vehicle and Steering Shaft, Lower Bearing, and Jacket - Assemble - Off Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column-Tilt.

Incorrect tire pressure

Inflate the tires to specification. Refer to Tire Inflation Description in Tires and Wheels.
