Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  2. Remove the air cleaner and duct assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls.
  3. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .

  5. Remove the compressor line nut (1) from the condenser.

  6. Object Number: 369018  Size: SH
  7. Position the compressor line aside from the condenser.

  8. Object Number: 369028  Size: SH
  9. Remove the compressor line nut (2) from the accumulator.

  10. Object Number: 369032  Size: SH
  11. Position the compressor line aside from the accumulator.
  12. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  13. Remove the lower air deflector. Refer to Radiator Air Baffle Assemblies and Deflectors in Engine Cooling.

    Important: Remove and discard all the used O-rings and sealing washers.

  15. Remove the bolt and the compressor hose at the compressor.
  16. Remove the compressor hose assembly.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the compressor hose assembly.
  2. Important: Lubricate the new O-rings with mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.

  3. Install the new O-rings onto the compressor hose assembly. Refer to O-Ring Replacement .
  4. Install the new sealing washers onto the compressor hose assembly.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the compressor hose assembly at the rear of the compressor.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the compressor hose bolt to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

  7. Install the lower air deflector. Refer to Radiator Air Baffle Assemblies and Deflectors in Engine Cooling.
  8. Lower the vehicle.

  10. Install the compressor line to the accumulator.

  11. Object Number: 369028  Size: SH
  12. Install the compressor hose nut (2) onto the accumulator.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the compressor hose nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  14. Install the compressor hose to the condenser.

  15. Object Number: 369008  Size: SH
  16. Install the compressor hose nut (1).
  17. Tighten
    Tighten the compressor hose nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  18. Evacuate and recharge the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  19. Inspect the system for leaks. Refer to Leak Testing .
  20. Install the air cleaner and duct assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls.
  21. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
