DEFINITION: One or more of the memory seat functions are inoperative and no DTCs are set.

Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

Attempt to operate all of the memory seat adjustments through their full range.

Do all of the memory seat functions operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Display the memory seat module Input/Output data list.
  3. Disconnect the seat adjuster switch connector.
  4. Connect a test lamp from the adjuster switch 12-volt reference circuit terminal in the harness connector to ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 4

Connect a fused jumper wire from the 12-volt reference circuit terminal to the inoperative switch signal circuit terminal in the adjuster switch harness connector.

Does the scan tool indicate the appropriate switch status as active?

Go to Step 7

Test the adjuster switch 12-volt reference circuit for an open or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs .

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 11

Test the inoperative switch signal circuit for an open or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs .

Inspect for poor connections at the seat adjuster switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and to Connector Repairs .

Did you review the Power Seat System Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Attempt to operate all of the seat adjuster motors through their full range of adjustment.

Do all of the power seat adjuster motors operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Are all of the power seat functions inoperative?

Go to Step 4

Test the battery positive voltage supply circuit to the seat adjuster switch for an open or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs .

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 12

Test the seat adjuster switch ground circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs .

Did you find and correct the condition?

  1. Disconnect the inoperative adjuster motor connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp across the inoperative adjuster motor control circuit terminals.
  3. Press the inoperative seat adjuster switch in both directions.

Does the test lamp illuminate when the switch is pressed in both directions?

  1. Disconnect the power seat switch connector.
  2. Test the inoperative adjuster motor control circuits for an open or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs .

Inspect for poor connections at the seat adjuster motor assembly. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and to Connector Repairs .
