- Perform the following steps in order to enter the body control
module (MALL) diagnostic mode:
• | Place the ignition switch in the ON position. |
• | Press and hold the power door unlock switch. |
• | Cycle the headlamps ON and OFF 6 times. |
• | Release the power door unlock switch. |
- The MALL may sound a series of tones (history codes) upon entering
the diagnostic mode. For a list of these codes, refer to
Body Control Module Diagnostic Information
in Body Control System.
- Press a door lock switch to the LOCK position.
Does the MALL sound 1 tone each time the switch is pressed?

- Turn OFF the ignition.
- Disconnect the MALL connector C2.
- Disconnect the remote function actuator module (RFA) connector.
- Use a J 39200
digital
multimeter in order to measure the resistance between the MALL connector C2
terminal C7 and the remote function actuator (RFA) module connector
terminal E4.
Is the resistance within the specified range?

- Disconnect the appropriate component:
• | The left front door lock/window switch (Buick) |
• | The left seat/lock switch (Oldsmobile) |
- Use the DMM in order to measure the resistance between the switch
connector CKT 780 (RED/BLK) and the RFA connector terminal E13.
Is the resistance within the specified range?

- Disconnect the left front door lock actuator connector C2.
- Use the DMM in order to measure the resistance between the MALL
connector C1 terminal C and the door lock actuator connector C2
