Perform the Instrument Cluster System Check.

Is the system check complete?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
  2. Disconnect the engine coolant level switch connector.
  3. Connect a fused jumper between the coolant level switch connector terminal C and ground.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to RUN.

Is the low coolant indicator still lit?

Inspect CKT 68 (YEL) for an open.

Is the wiring OK?

Measure the voltage between the coolant level switch connector terminal B (BRN) and ground.

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10-15 V

  1. Disconnect the instrument cluster connector C1.
  2. Inspect the instrument cluster connector C1 terminal E1 for proper contact.

Is the contact OK?

Replace the instrument cluster.

Is the repair complete?

Inspect CKT 41 (BRN) for an open or short to ground.

Is the wiring OK?

Measure the resistance between the coolant level switch connector terminal A (BLK/WHT) and ground.

Does the resistance measure less than the specified value?

5 ohms

Inspect CKT 451 for an open.

Is the wiring OK?

Inspect the coolant level switch connector for proper terminal contact.

Is the contact OK?
