Removal Procedure

Warning: Refer to Brake Dust Warning in the Preface section.

  1. Block the rear drive wheels.
  2. Release the electronic park brake cable tension, if equipped. Refer to Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Disabling.
  3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  4. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  5. Remove the rear wheel bearing and hub assembly. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement.
  6. Remove the parking brake actuator. Refer to Parking Brake Actuator Replacement.

  7. Object Number: 1970031  Size: SH
  8. Remove the parking brake cable bracket nuts (1).

  9. Object Number: 1970033  Size: SH
  10. Remove the parking brake backing plate (1).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1970033  Size: SH
  1. Install the parking brake backing plate (1).
  2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1970031  Size: SH
  3. Install the parking brake cable bracket nuts (1) and tighten to   60 N·m (44 lb ft).

  4. Object Number: 1970030  Size: SH
  5. Install the parking brake actuator (1). Refer to Parking Brake Actuator Replacement.
  6. Connect the park brake cable to the actuator.
  7. Install the rear wheel bearing and hub assembly. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement.
  8. Install the parking brake shoes. Refer to Parking Brake Shoe Replacement.
  9. Adjust the park brake. Refer to Parking Brake Adjustment.
  10. Set the electric park brake cable tension. Refer to Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Enabling
  11. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
