Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement V6

Procedure

  1. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement.
  2. Remove the front compartment lower noise shield. Refer to Front Compartment Lower Noise Shield Replacement.
  3. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement.
  4. If equipped, remove the power brake booster auxiliary pump. Refer to Power Brake Booster Auxiliary Pump Replacement.

Remote Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Bolt

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Tighten
10 N·m (89 lb in)

Remote Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Bolt

Tighten
40 N·m (30 lb ft)

Tip
If equipped with a power brake booster auxiliary pump, this will be a nut on a stud.

Remote Power Steering Fluid Reservoir

Procedure

  1. Disconnect the power steering fluid reservoir outlet hose.
  2. Disconnect the power steering reservoir inlet hose.
  3. After repairs, fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.

Tip

    • Before repairs, remove as much power steering fluid from the remote power steering fluid reservoir as possible.
    • Before repairs, place drain pans under the vehicle as needed.
    • After repairs, clean any excess fluid from the vehicle and remove the drain pans.

Preliminary Procedure

  1. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement.
  2. Remove the air cleaner resonator outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Resonator Outlet Duct Replacement.
  3. Remove the front intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement - Front.
  4. Siphon the fluid from the power steering fluid reservoir.
  5. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
  6. Remove the power steering pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement.

Bolt, Power Steering Pump Bracket (Qty: 3)

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Procedure

Loosen the bolts as much as necessary in order to access the reservoir bolts.

Tighten
22 N·m (17 lb ft)

Tighten
25 N·m (18 lb ft)

Procedure

Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.
