Circuit/System Description

The exterior door handle switch signal circuit provides inputs to the remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR) and the driver door module (DDM) when the exterior door handle switch is activated. This input allows the DDM and RCDLR to detect a door open request. The DDM and RCDLR provide voltage to the exterior door handle switch via the front door handle switch signal circuit. When the front door handle is activated, the switch closes and the voltage signals from the DDM and RCDLR are pulled to ground.

Conditions for Running the DTC

DTC B1325 is not set

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The RCDLR or DDM detects the driver exterior door handle switch signal circuit is closed for greater than 180 seconds.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The RCDLR and DDM ignores inputs from the front exterior door handle switch.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • The DTC will be current for as long as the fault is present.
    • When the fault is no longer present, the DTC will be a history DTC.
    • A history DTC will clear after 50 ignition cycles.

Circuit/System Verification

With the doors unlocked, open the driver door by using the driver exterior door handle. The driver door should release and open when using the driver exterior door handle.

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the driver exterior door handle.
  2. Disconnect the X1 harness connector at the RCDLR.
  3. Ignition ON, test for greater than 9 volts between the signal circuit terminal E and ground.
  4. If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the ciruict tests normal, replace the DDM.
  5. Ignition OFF, connect the harness connector X1 at the RCDLR and disconnect the harness connector X6 at the DDM.
  6. Ignition ON, test for greater than 9 volts between the signal circuit terminal E and ground.
  7. If less than the specified range, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the RCDLR.
  8. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the driver exterior door handle.

Component Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the driver door handle.
  2. Test for infinite resistance between the signal terminal E and the ground terminal F with the switch in the open position.
  3. If not the specified value, replace the driver door handle.
  4. Test for less than 2 ohms between the signal terminal E and the ground terminal F with the switch in the closed position.
  5. If greater than the specified range, replace the driver door handle.
