Makes 🢒 Cadillac 🢒 2003 🢒 CTS - RHD 🢒 Engine 🢒 Engine Mechanical - 2.6L and 3.2L 🢒 Oil Cooler and Oil Cooler Cover Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .
  2. Remove the water crossover. Refer to Engine Coolant Crossover Pipe Replacement in Engine Cooling.

    3. Object Number: 159490 Size: SH
  3. Remove the following from the engine oil cooler:
    4. • The oil cooler inlet fitting
    • The oil cooler outlet fitting

  4. Note the positioning of the 4 seals.
  5. Remove the oil cooler lines from the engine. Refer to Oil Cooler Hose/Pipe Replacement .

    6. Object Number: 159494 Size: SH
  6. Remove the engine oil cooler inlet and outlet nuts (1).
  7. Remove the engine oil cooler cover bolts (2).

    8. Object Number: 769020 Size: SH
  8. Remove the engine oil cooler cover.
  9. Remove the engine oil cooler from the engine.
  10. Clean the cylinder block mating surfaces.
  11. Clean and inspect the oil cooler. Refer to Oil Cooler Cleaning and Inspection .

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 769020 Size: SH
  1. Install the engine oil cooler inlet/outlet O-ring seals.

    2. Object Number: 159496 Size: SH
  2. Apply a 2 mm (0.08 in) bead of GM P/N 12378521(Canadian P/N 88901148), or equivalent, in the groove around the engine oil cooler cover.
  3. Position the engine oil cooler to the engine.
  4. Apply thread adhesive GM P/N 12345382 (Canadian P/N 109534382) to the engine oil cooler cover bolts.

    5. Notice: Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Install the engine oil cooler cover bolts (2).

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the engine oil cooler cover bolts in sequence to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  6. Install the engine oil cooler inlet and outlet nuts (1).

    7. Tighten
    Tighten the engine oil cooler inlet and outlet nuts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  7. Position the oil cooler line fittings to the oil cooler.

  8. Install the oil cooler inlet and outlet fittings to the engine oil cooler.

    9. Use 4 new seals.

    Tighten

        • Tighten the oil cooler inlet fitting to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).
        • Tighten the oil cooler outlet fitting to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).
  9. Install the oil cooler lines to the engine. Refer to Oil Cooler Hose/Pipe Replacement .
  10. Install the water crossover. Refer to Engine Coolant Crossover Pipe Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  11. Install the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement .
