Removal Procedure
- Remove the rear bumper fascia. Refer to
Rear Bumper Fascia Replacement
.
- Remove the bolts (1, 2) that secure the impact bar (3) to the rear energy absorbers (4).
- Remove the rear impact bar (2).
Installation Procedure
- Install the rear impact bar (2) to the rear energy absorbers.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the bolts (1, 3) in order to secure the impact bar to the energy absorbers.
2.1. | Install at least one inboard bolt (1) on the right side first. |
2.2. | Install at least one inboard bolt on the left side second. |
2.3. | Install the remaining outer bolts third. |
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft) as stated.
