Removal Procedure
Caution: When you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the
SIR wiring, you must disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System.
Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause air bag deployment,
personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.
- Remove the IP compartment. Refer to
Instrument Panel Storage Compartment Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and
Console.
- Remove the right sound insulator. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side
in Instrument Panel
, Gauges, and Console.
- Remove the DIM module from the bracket. Refer to
Instrument Panel Module Replacement
in Body Control System.
- Remove the rear two DIM module bracket fasteners.
- Reposition the DIM module bracket to gain access to the air inlet
actuator.
- Remove the blower motor
speed control module retaining fasteners.
Important: Note the routing location of the blower motor and the blower motor
speed control module wiring.
Improper wire routing will cause blower motor and blower motor speed
control module wires to be pinched or chaffed by the DIM module bracket and
cause wiring failure.
- Remove the electrical connector (2) from the blower motor
control module (1).
- Remove the electrical connection from the blower motor.
- Remove the blower motor control module (1) from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the blower motor
control module (1) to the lower mounting location.
Once the module is in position it should seat flat against the HVAC
case.
- Route and reconnect the electrical connectors to the blower control
module (1) and the blower motor (2).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the blower
motor control module retaining fasteners.
Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 1.4 N·m (12 lb in).
- Position the DIM module bracket to its original position.
- Install the rear two DIM module bracket retaining fasteners.
