Removal Procedure

  1. Open the hood.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. Remove the front bumper fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement .

  4. Object Number: 474296  Size: SH
  5. Remove the fasteners (2) that secure the front bumper impact bar (1) to the front bumper impact bar brackets.
  6. Remove the front bumper impact bar (1) from the vehicle.

  7. Object Number: 474298  Size: SH
  8. Remove the radiator in order to gain access to the front bumper impact bar bracket retaining nut (1). Refer to Radiator Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  9. Remove the nut (1) securing the rear of the front bumper impact bar bracket (3) to the vehicle.
  10. Remove the nuts (2) securing the front of the front bumper impact bar bracket (3) to the vehicle.
  11. Remove the front bumper impact bar bracket (3) from the vehicle.
  12. Important: It is only necessary to perform steps 10 and 11 if the stud plate is damaged.

  13. Remove the stud plate retainer (2) from the stud plate (1).
  14. Remove the stud plate (1) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the stud plate (1) to the vehicle.
  2. Install the stud plate retainer (2) in order to secure the stud plate (1) to the vehicle.

  3. Object Number: 474298  Size: SH
  4. Install the front bumper impact bar bracket (3) to the vehicle.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the nuts (2) in order to secure the front of the front bumper impact bar bracket (3) to the vehicle.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  8. Install the nut (1) in order to secure the rear of the front bumper impact bar bracket (3) to the vehicle.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  10. Install the radiator. Refer to Radiator Replacement in Engine Cooling.

  11. Object Number: 474296  Size: SH
  12. Install the front bumper impact bar (1) to the vehicle.
  13. Install the bolts (2) in order to retain the front bumper impact bar (1) to the vehicle.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the retainer bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  15. Install the front bumper fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement .
  16. Lower the vehicle.
  17. Close the hood.
