Makes 🢒 Cadillac 🢒 2005 🢒 DeVille 🢒 Body 🢒 Doors 🢒 Front Side Door Outside Handle Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Place the window in the full up position.
  2. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
  3. Remove the door module. Refer to Door Control Module Replacement .
  4. Remove the water deflector. Refer to Front Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .

    5. Object Number: 507065 Size: SH
  5. Through the rear access hole of the inner panel, disconnect the outside door handle rod (1) from the door latch retainer clip (2).

    6. Object Number: 524117 Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the outside lock rod (1) from the door latch (6) (driver door only).

    7. Object Number: 526280 Size: SH
  7. Disconnect the lock cylinder harness electrical connector from the door harness (driver door only).
  8. Remove the outside door handle fasteners through the access holes.

    9. Object Number: 554972 Size: SH
  9. Remove the door handle assemble from the door in the following order:
    10. 9.1. Push upward on the two lower retaining tabs.
    9.2. Remove the handle, with the latch rod and lock cylinder attached, by lifting up and out.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 334828 Size: SH
  1. Install the door handle assembly into the door in the following order:
    2. 1.1. Insert the rods through the cut out.
    1.2. Rotate the handle into position.
    1.3. Apply up and inward pressure until the two lower retaining tabs on the handle engage the door.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  2. Install the outside door handle fasteners through the access holes.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 7 N·m (62 lb in).

  3. Connect the lock cylinder harness electrical connector to the door harness (driver door only).

    4. Object Number: 524117 Size: SH
  4. Through the rear access hole of the inner panel, connect the outside lock rod (1) to the door latch (6) (driver door only).

    5. Object Number: 105412 Size: SH
  5. Connect the outside door handle rod to the door latch in the following order:
    6. 5.1. Insert the rod (1) into the retainer clip (2) on the door latch assembly.
    5.2. Close the clip (2).
  6. Install the water deflector. Refer to Front Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  7. Install the door module. Refer to Door Control Module Replacement .
  8. Install the door trim panel. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
