Removal Procedure

  1. Place the window in the full up position.
  2. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
  3. Remove the door module. Refer to Door Control Module Replacement .
  4. Remove the water deflector. Refer to Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  5. Remove the latch assembly. Refer to Rear Side Door Latch Replacement .

  6. Object Number: 524060  Size: SH
  7. Remove the rear outside door handle fastener through the latch hole.
  8. Remove the front outside door handle fastener through the rear access hole.

  9. Object Number: 554972  Size: SH
  10. Remove the door handle assembly from the door in the following order:
  11. 8.1. Push upward on the two lower retaining tabs.
    8.2. Remove the handle, with the latch rod attached, by lifting up and out.

  12. Remove the rod from the door handle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 524062  Size: SH
  1. Attach the rod to the outside door handle.
  2. Install the door handle assembly into the door in the following order:
  3. 2.1. Insert the rod through the cut out.
    2.2. Rotate the handle into position.
    2.3. Apply up and inward pressure until the two lower retaining tabs on the handle engage the door.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the outside door handle fasteners through the access holes.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 7 N·m (62 lb in).

  6. Install the latch assembly. Refer to Rear Side Door Latch Replacement .
  7. Install the water deflector. Refer to Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  8. Install the door module. Refer to Door Control Module Replacement .
  9. Install the door trim panel. Refer to Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
