Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement Standard Models
Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in the Preface section.
- Remove the left and right windshield pillar garnish moldings. Refer to
Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement
in Interior
Trim.
- Remove the instrument panel (I/P) air outlet vents. Refer to
Instrument Panel Air Deflector Replacement
in Heating,
Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
- Remove the defroster grille. Refer to
Defroster Grille Replacement
.
- Remove the four fasteners (2) from the inside of the vent outlet
holes to the upper pad (3).
- Remove the three fasteners (1) from the inside of the defroster
grille outlet holes to the upper pad (3).
- Lift the upper I/P pad (1) upward from the rear edge of the I/P cluster
in order to disengage the retainers from the I/P cluster trim plate.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors, if necessary.
- Lift the pad on an angle and slide rearward in order to disengage the
retainers at the front of the I/P.
- Remove the I/P upper trim pad (1) from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Align the I/P upper trim pad to the I/P and connect the electrical connections.
- Slide the I/P upper trim pad (1) forward in order to engage the
front of the I/P trim pad to the I/P carrier.
- Align the rear edge of the I/P upper trim pad (1) with the I/P
cluster bezel, and snap the retainers into the upper pad.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the four fasteners (2) into the I/P air outlet vent openings.
Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
- Install the three fasteners (1) into the defroster grille opening
on the I/P upper pad (3).
Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
- Install the I/P air outlets. Refer to
Instrument Panel Air Deflector Replacement
in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
- Install the defroster grille. Refer to
Defroster Grille Replacement
.
- Install the left and right windshield garnish moldings. Refer to
Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement
in Interior
Trim.
Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement WC2/WC8
Removal Procedure

- Remove the left and right windshield pillar garnish moldings. Refer to

- Remove the instrument panel (I/P) air outlet vents. Refer to

- Remove the defroster grille. Refer to

- Remove the four fasteners (2) from the inside of the vent outlet
holes to the upper pad (3).
- Remove the three fasteners (1) from the inside of the defroster
grille outlet holes to the upper pad (3).
- Lift the upper I/P pad (1) upward from the rear edge of the I/P cluster
in order to disengage the retainers from the I/P cluster trim plate.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors, if necessary.

- Remove the I/P upper trim pad (1) from the vehicle.

Important: The top panel is trimmed on the WC2/WC8.
- Align the I/P upper trim pad to the I/P and connect the electrical connections.

front of the I/P trim pad to the I/P carrier.
