Removal Procedure

  1. Remove rear bumper fascia. Refer to Rear Bumper Fascia Replacement in Bumpers.

  2. Object Number: 489061  Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the rear object sensor.

  4. Object Number: 500502  Size: SH
  5. Lift the locking tabs on the housing (4). Remove the rear object sensor (1).

  6. Object Number: 489063  Size: SH
  7. Squeeze the spring (1). Remove the spring from the housing (2).

  8. Object Number: 489064  Size: SH
  9. Release the tabs on the housing. Remove the housing.

  10. Object Number: 489066  Size: SH
  11. Remove the bezel by pushing the bezel through the fascia.

Installation Procedure

    Important: Do not refinish previously painted sensors. Excess paint build up will cause the sensor to be inoperative

  1. Paint the new rear object sensor. Refer to Basecoat/Clearcoat Paint Systems in Paint/Coatings.
  2. Check to ensure the paint thickness does not exceed 6 mils. Use a paint thickness gauge suitable for non-ferrous metals. Refer to Paint Gages in Paint/Coatings.

  3. Object Number: 489066  Size: SH
  4. Install the rear object sensor bezel by pressing ring in until it is flush with fascia.

  5. Object Number: 500505  Size: SH
  6. Align the keyhole (2) with the key (1). Press the sensor bezel into the fascia.

  7. Object Number: 489064  Size: SH
  8. Install the housing to the bezel from the back of the rear fascia. Press into the cut outs until fully secured.
  9. Important: The spring keys must be on the top and bottom of the housing.

  10. Install the spring (1) to the housing (2).

  11. Object Number: 500502  Size: SH
  12. Install the decoupling ring (2) to the sensor (1).
  13. Insert the sensor into the housing (4) with the connector pointing toward the passenger side of the fascia. The sensor tabs secure into the cutouts on the housing (4).

  14. Object Number: 489061  Size: SH
  15. Connect the electrical connector to the rear object sensor.
  16. Install the rear bumper fascia. Refer to Rear Bumper Fascia Replacement in Bumpers.
