Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the HVAC module. Refer to HVAC Module Assembly Replacement .
  2. Remove the recirculation door. Refer to Recirculation Door Replacement .
  3. Remove the mode actuator. Refer to Mode Actuator Replacement in HVAC Systems - Automatic.
  4. Remove the upper module case screws.

  6. Peel back the foam at the heater inlet.

  7. Object Number: 817995  Size: SH
  8. Remove the upper case.

  9. Object Number: 684429  Size: SH
  10. Remove the actuator cam from the defroster door.
  11. Remove the defroster door.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the defroster door.

  2. Object Number: 684429  Size: SH
  3. Install the actuator cam to the defroster door.

  4. Object Number: 817995  Size: SH
  5. Install the upper module case.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the upper module case screws.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 1.4 N·m (12 lb in).

  9. Apply the foam at the heater inlet.
  10. Install the mode actuator. Refer to Mode Actuator Replacement in HVAC Systems - Automatic.
  11. Install the recirculation door. Refer to Recirculation Door Replacement .
  12. Install the HVAC module. Refer to HVAC Module Assembly Replacement .
  13. Recalibrate the actuators. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Computer/Integrating Systems.
