Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the HVAC Module. Refer to HVAC Module Assembly Replacement .
  2. Remove the mode actuator. Refer to Mode Actuator Replacement in HVAC Systems - Automatic.
  3. Remove the recirculation door. Refer to Recirculation Door Replacement .
  4. Disconnect the air temperature actuator assembly electrical connector (2).

  5. Object Number: 592452  Size: SH
  6. Remove the air temperature actuator assembly screws (1).

  7. Object Number: 592455  Size: SH
  8. Remove the air temperature actuator assembly (1).
  9. Disconnect the left temperature actuator electrical connector.

  10. Object Number: 292138  Size: SH
  11. Remove the left temperature actuator screws (1).

  12. Object Number: 292133  Size: SH
  13. Remove the left temperature actuator.
  14. Remove the upper HVAC case screws.
  15. Remove the upper HVAC case.
  16. Remove the middle HVAC case screws.

  17. Object Number: 684483  Size: SH
  18. Remove the middle HVAC case.

  19. Object Number: 688096  Size: SH
  20. Remove the actuator cam from the mode door.
  21. Release the tabs to open the middle HVAC module section.
  22. Remove the mode door.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the mode door.

  2. Object Number: 688096  Size: SH
  3. Install the actuator cam to the mode door.

  4. Object Number: 684483  Size: SH
  5. Install the middle HVAC case section.
  6. Install the upper HVAC case section.
  7. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  8. Install the all module case screws.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 1.4 N·m (12 lb in).

  10. Install the left air temperature actuator.

  11. Object Number: 292138  Size: SH
  12. Install the left air temperature actuator screws (1).
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 1.4 N·m (12 lb in).

  14. Install the left air temperature actuator electrical connector.

  15. Object Number: 592455  Size: SH
  16. Install the air temperature actuator assembly (1) to the HVAC module.

  17. Object Number: 684522  Size: SH
  18. Install the air temperature actuator assembly.

  19. Object Number: 592452  Size: SH
  20. Install the air temperature actuator assembly screws (1).
  21. Tighten
    Tighten the screws (1) to 1.4 N·m (12 lb in).

  22. Install the mode actuator. Refer to Mode Actuator Replacement in HVAC Systems - Automatic.
  23. Install the recirculation door. Refer to Recirculation Door Replacement .
  24. Install the HVAC module. Refer to HVAC Module Assembly Replacement .
  25. Recalibrate the actuators. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Computer/Integrating Systems.
