Tools Required
Removal Procedure
- Remove the wiper arms. Refer to
Windshield Wiper Arm Replacement
.
- Remove the air inlet grille panel. Refer to
Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement
in Body Front End.
- Disconnect the electrical
connectors from the wiper motor.
Important: Note the position of the crank arm on the old motor.
- Position the old crank arm to the same position on the new motor.
- Disconnect the transmission
drive link socket from the wiper motor crank arm using the J 39232
.
- Remove the wiper motor from the plenum.
- Remove the 3 screws from the wiper motor cover.
- Remove the wiper motor cover from the old motor.
Installation Procedure
- Install the wiper motor cover to the new wiper motor.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the 3 screws.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
- Position the wiper motor to the plenum.
- Secure the transmission
drive link socket to the wiper motor crank arm ball using the J 39529
.
- Install the 3 bolts to the wiper motor.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
- Connect the electrical
connectors to the wiper motor.
- Install the air inlet grille panel. Refer to
Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement
in Body Front End.
- Install the wiper arms. Refer to
Windshield Wiper Arm Replacement
.
- Verify the wiper washer system operation.
