Did you perform the Body Rear End Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Place the transmission in the PARK position.
  2. Operate the fuel door release switch.

Did the fuel door release?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
  3. With a scan tool command the fuel door release relay on.

Did the fuel door release?

Go to Step 4

  1. With a scan tool observe the fuel door release parameter in the instrument cluster data list.
  2. Operate the fuel door release switch.

Does the fuel door release parameter change states?

Go to Step 11

  1. Disconnect the fuel door release switch.
  2. Connect a fused jumper between the signal circuit of the fuel door release switch and a good ground.

Does the fuel door release?

Go to Step 6

Connect a fused jumper between the signal circuit of the fuel door release switch and the ground circuit of the fuel door release switch.

Does the fuel door release?

Go to Step 12

  1. Disconnect the fuel door release relay.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the battery positive voltage circuit of the fuel door release relay and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Connect a test lamp between the battery positive voltage circuit of the fuel door release relay and the control circuit of the fuel door release relay.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Test the control circuit of the fuel door release for an open or high resistance. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
