Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 398493  Size: SH
  1. Remove the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement in Seats.
  2. Remove 1 fastener from the rear of the carpet retainer.
  3. Pull upward the carpet retainer in order to disengage the retainer from the clips.

  4. Object Number: 593263  Size: SH
  5. Remove the clear plastic retainer clip at the base of the shoulder belt retractor cover.
  6. Guide the seat belt through the opening in order to remove the carpet retainer.
  7. Remove the carpet retainer.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the carpet retainer over the shoulder belt retractor.

  2. Object Number: 593263  Size: SH
  3. Guide the seat belt through the opening in the carpet retainer.
  4. Secure the opening in the cover with the clear plastic retainer clip.
  5. Position the carpet retainer over the clips.
  6. Push downward on the retainer in order to engage the clips to the rocker panel.

  7. Object Number: 398493  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  8. Install the fastener that retains the rear of the carpet retainer.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the fastener to 1.5 N·m (13 lb in).

  10. Install the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement in Seats.
