Measure the voltage from the battery positive voltage (B+) circuit of the seat adjuster switch to a good ground.

Does the voltage measure within the specified range?

9-16 V

Measure the voltage from the battery positive voltage (B+) circuit of the seat adjuster switch to the ground circuit of the switch.

Does the voltage measure within the specified range?

9-16 V

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the seat adjustor switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Verify that the Power Seat Inoperative complaint is present.

Operate all of the seat adjuster switches.

Do any of the seat functions move for approximately 1 second then stop?

Go to Step 7

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. With a scan tool, observe the Seat Switches parameter in the Memory Seat Module data list.
  4. Activate any one of the seat directional switches.

Does the Seat Switches parameter change state?

  1. Connect a test lamp from battery positive voltage to any one of the power seat switch signal circuits of the memory seat module.
  2. Activate the appropriate seat switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Test the ground circuit of the driver seat adjuster switch for a high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the memory seat sensor low reference circuit between the memory seat module and the seat position sensors for a high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the 5 volt reference circuit between the memory seat module and the seat position sensors for a high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
