Removal Procedure

    Caution: Disconnect the power window switch when working inside the driver door. When operated, the Express Up/Down Feature allows the door window to move very quickly, without stopping, which could cause personal injury.

    Important: These handles have adjustable outside handle-to-lock rods. The rods allow for adjustment of the amount of effort needed in order to operate the outside handle. When servicing a vehicle with adjustable outside handle-to-lock rods.

  1. Remove all free play between the outside handle and the lock assembly.
  2. Ensure that the window is in the full up position.

  3. Remove the trim panel. Refer to Door Trim Panel Replacement .
  4. Remove the water deflector. Refer to Door Water Deflector Replacement .

  6. Unsnap the lock rod clip.
  7. Remove the rods from the lock assembly.
  8. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  9. Remove the 2 fasteners (2).
  10. Protect the outer door painted surface.
  11. Remove the outside handle assembly.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 319925  Size: SH
  1. Make sure the door handle gasket is in place prior to installation.
  2. Carefully install the outside door handle assembly to the door.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the 2 fasteners (2).
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners (2) to 7 N·m (62 lb in).

  6. Connect the electrical connector.

  8. Install the rods (3) to the lock assembly.
  9. Ensure to remove any excessive travel in the handle linkage.
  10. Close the clip (2).
  11. Inspect the operation of the door handle.
  12. Install the water deflector. Refer to Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  13. Install the trim panel. Refer to Door Trim Panel Replacement .
