Schematic Reference: Power Window Schematics

DEFINITION: Only the driver door window is inoperative, or, the driver door window is inoperative and the passenger door window is inoperative only from the driver door switch.

Did you perform the Door Systems Diagnostic System Check?

Verify the fault is present.

Does the system operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
  2. Attempt to operate the driver door power window from the master switch on the driver door.

Did the window operate properly?

Go to Symptoms - Doors

Go to Step 4

Operate the passenger door window from the master window switch on the driver door.

Did the passenger window operate from the master switch?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 7

  1. Disconnect the driver door power window motor harness connector.
  2. Probe the window motor left front up circuit of the harness connector with a test lamp connected to a good ground.
  3. Activate the driver window switch to the Up position.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

  1. Connect the test lamp between the window motor left front up circuit and the window motor left front down circuit of the harness connector.
  2. Activate the driver window switch to both the Up and Down positions.

Did the test lamp illuminate for each press of the switch?

Go to Step 10

Test the battery positive voltage supply circuit of the master window switch between the switch and the splice for an open or a high resistance.

Did you correct the condition?

Go to Step 14

Test the window motor left front up circuit for an open or a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the window motor left front down circuit for an open or a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the driver door power window motor. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the master window switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the driver door power window motor. Refer to Door Window Regulator Motor Replacement .

Replace the master window switch on the driver door. Refer to Front Side Door Window Switch Replacement .

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
