Did you perform the Instrument Cluster Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
  3. Press and release each of the driver information center (DIC) buttons.
  4. With a scan tool, observe the following DIC switch parameters in the instrument panel cluster (IPC) Inputs for Analog Dash data list.
  5. • Dis. Information Reset Sw.
    • Display Information Sw.
    • Display Trip Reset Sw.

Do the DIC switch parameters display On when each DIC button is pressed and Off when each DIC button is released?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Do the DIC switch parameters display Off when each DIC button is pressed?

Go to Step 9

Does the suspected DIC switch parameter display Off when the suspected DIC button is pressed?

Go to Step 6

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect the DIC switch.
  3. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
  4. With a scan tool, observe the suspected DIC switch parameter.

Does the suspected DIC switch parameter display On for the suspected DIC button?

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect the DIC switch.
  3. Connect a 3 ampere fused jumper between the signal circuit of the suspected DIC switch and a good ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.
  4. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
  5. With a scan tool, observe the suspected DIC switch parameter.

Does the suspected DIC switch parameter display On for the suspected button?

Test the signal circuit of the suspected DIC button for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Go to Step 14

Test the signal circuit of the suspected DIC button for an open or for a high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the ground circuit of the DIC Switch for an open or for a high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the DIC switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and to Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
