  1. Turn the ignition ON.
  2. Turn the windshield wiper/washer switch OFF.

Do the windshield wipers remain in the park position?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect the inline harness connector C202.
  3. Remove the connector terminal row E from the steering column harness connector half.
  4. Connect the inline harness connector C202.
  5. Turn the ignition ON.

Are the windshield wipers always on?

Go to Step 4

Disconnect the moisture sensor connector.

Are the windshield wipers always on?

Go to Step 5

Test the windshield wiper motor high speed circuit for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Go to Step 12

Test the windshield wiper switch signal 2 circuit for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the windshield wiper switch low signal circuit for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the moisture sensor ground circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the windshield wiper/washer switch. Refer to Multifunction, Turn Signal, and Hazard Switch Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column.

Replace the moisture sensor. Refer to Windshield Outside Moisture Sensor Replacement .

Replace the windshield wiper motor module. Refer to Wiper Motor Cover Replacement .

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
