Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1209256  Size: SH
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  3. Remove the shock yoke. Refer to Front Shock Absorber Yoke Replacement .
  4. Vehicles equipped with magnaride shock absorber, disconnect the sensor link from the upper control arm.
  5. Vehicles equipped with headlamp sensors, disconnect the sensor link from the upper control arm.
  6. Notice: The ball stud must not rotate during disassembly or reassembly. Hand tools must be used to keep the ball stud from rotating. If air tools are used and the stud is allowed to rotate, damage to the ball stud and/or stud mounting hole may occur.

    Important: Hold the upper control arm to the steering knuckle when removing the retaining nut.

    Important: To prevent the ball stud from slipping, insert a hex-head tool while removing the upper control arm-to-steering knuckle nut.

  7. Remove the upper control arm to steering knuckle nut.
  8. Separate the upper control arm from the steering knuckle.
  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Vehicles equipped with magnaride, disconnect the sensors electrical connector.

  12. Remove the shock module upper mounting bolts.
  13. Remove the shock module from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1209263  Size: SH
  1. Install the shock module to the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the shock module upper mounting bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 114 N·m (84 lb ft).

  5. Vehicles equipped with magnaride shock absorber, connect the sensors electrical connector.
  6. Raise the vehicle.

  8. Install the upper control arm to the steering knuckle.
  9. Install the upper control arm to steering knuckle retaining nut.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 84 N·m (62 lb ft).

  11. Vehicles equipped with magnaride shock absorber, install the sensor link on the upper control arm.
  12. Vehicles equipped with headlamp sensors, install the sensor link on the upper control arm.
  13. Install the shock yoke. Refer to Front Shock Absorber Yoke Replacement .
  14. Install the shock to the yoke.
  15. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  16. Lower the vehicle.
