Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Replacement RWD

Tools Required

J 44827 Transmission Cooler Quick Connect

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the engine oil filter. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 1710027  Size: SH
  3. Remove the left hand (LH) front wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  4. Remove the LH front splash shield retainers.
  5. Remove the LH front splash shield.
  6. Using J 44827 , disconnect the transmission oil cooler (TOC) lines from the radiator.

  7. Object Number: 1710028  Size: SH
  8. Remove the TOC line to transmission retaining bolt.
  9. Disconnect the TOC lines from the transmission.
  10. Remove and discard the O-rings.

  11. Object Number: 1334983  Size: SH
  12. Remove the TOC retainer bracket bolt.
  13. Important: Reposition the TOC lines to gain access to the retainer bracket rivets. The TOC lines must be removed individually

  14. Drill out the retainer bracket rivets.
  15. Remove the retainer bracket.
  16. Remove the TOC lines.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1334983  Size: SH
  1. Install the TOC lines.
  2. Install the retainer bracket.
  3. Install the retainer bracket to the TOC lines.
  4. Rivet the retainer bracket to the TOC lines.
  5. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  6. Install the TOC retainer bracket bolt.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  8. Install new O-rings to the rear TOC lines.
  9. Connect the rear TOC lines to the transmission.
  10. Install the rear TOC line to transmission retainer bolt.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  12. Connect the TOC lines to the radiator.
  13. Install the LH front splash shield.
  14. Install the LH front splash shield retainers.
  15. Install the LH front wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  16. Install the engine oil filter. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .

Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Replacement AWD

Tools Required

J 44827 Transmission Cooler Quick Connect

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the engine oil filter. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .
  2. Remove the left hand (LH) intermediate shaft bearing assembly. Refer to Front Drive Axle Intermediate Shaft Bearing Assembly Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 1710027  Size: SH
  4. Using J 44827 disconnect the transmission oil cooler (TOC) lines from the radiator.

  5. Object Number: 1710028  Size: SH
  6. Remove the TOC line to transmission retaining bolt.
  7. Remove the rear TOC lines from the transmission.
  8. Remove and discard the O-rings.

  9. Object Number: 1334983  Size: SH
  10. Remove the TOC retainer bracket bolt.
  11. Important: Reposition the TOC lines to gain access to the retainer bracket rivets. The TOC lines must be removed individually.

  12. Drill out the retainer bracket rivets.
  13. Remove the retainer bracket.
  14. Remove the TOC lines.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1334983  Size: SH
  1. Install the TOC lines.
  2. Install the retainer bracket.
  3. Install the retainer bracket to the TOC lines.
  4. Rivet the retainer bracket to the TOC lines.
  5. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  6. Install the TOC retainer bracket bolt.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  8. Install new O-rings to the rear of the TOC lines.
  9. Connect the TOC lines to the transmission.
  10. Install the TOC line to transmission retaining bolt.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).


    Object Number: 1710027  Size: SH
  12. Connect the TOC lines to the radiator.
  13. Install the LH intermediate shaft bearing assembly. Refer to Front Drive Axle Intermediate Shaft Bearing Assembly Replacement .
  14. Install the engine oil filter. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .
