Instrument Panel Retainer Replacement Right Hand Drive

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling.
  2. Remove the console assembly. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement.
  3. Remove the right and left instrument panel insulator panels. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side and Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side.
  4. Remove the instrument panel upper trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel with Windshield Defroster Nozzle Grille Replacement.
  5. Remove the instrument panel outer trim covers. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement - Right Side and Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement - Left Side.
  6. Remove the instrument panel air outlets. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Replacement - Left Side and Instrument Panel Center Air Outlet Replacement and Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Replacement - Right Side.
  7. Remove the instrument panel compartment dampener. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Door Dampener Replacement.
  8. Remove the instrument panel compartment trim bezel. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Trim Bezel Replacement.
  9. Remove the instrument panel upper storage compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Storage Compartment Replacement.
  10. Remove the steering column opening filler. Refer to Steering Column Opening Filler Replacement.
  11. Remove the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement.
  12. Remove the instrument panel cluster assembly. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement.
  13. Remove the instrument panel center molding assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel Center Molding Replacement.
  14. Remove the instrument panel ashtray assembly. Refer to Ashtray Replacement.
  15. Remove the radio assembly. Refer to Radio Replacement.

Instrument Panel Retainer Screw (Qty: 1)

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Tip
This screw is driven from front of car to rear of car, all other screws are driven from rear of car to front of car.

Tighten
2.5 N·m (22 lb in)

Instrument Panel Retainer Screw (Qty: 7)

Tighten
9 N·m (80 lb in)

Instrument Panel Retainer Screw (Qty: 10)

Tighten
2.5 N·m (22 lb in)

Instrument Panel Retainer Assembly

Procedures

  1. Note location and routing of the instrument panel wiring harness prior to removal of the instrument panel retainer assembly to ensure proper reinstallation.
  2. Disconnect the wiring harness from the instrument panel retainer assembly.
  3. With the aid of an assistant, remove the instrument panel retainer assembly from the vehicle.
  4. When replacing the instrument panel retainer assembly, transfer all necessary components.

  6. Remove the instrument panel air outlets. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Replacement - Left Side and Instrument Panel Center Air Outlet Replacement and Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Replacement - Right Side.
  7. Remove the instrument panel compartment dampener. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Door Dampener Replacement.
  8. Remove the instrument panel compartment trim bezel. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Trim Bezel Replacement.
  9. Remove the instrument panel upper storage compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Storage Compartment Replacement.
  10. Remove the steering column opening filler. Refer to Steering Column Opening Filler Replacement.
  11. Remove the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement.
  12. Remove the instrument panel cluster assembly. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement.
  13. Remove the instrument panel center molding assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel Center Molding Replacement.
  14. Remove the instrument panel ashtray assembly. Refer to Ashtray Replacement.
  15. Remove the radio assembly. Refer to Radio Replacement.

Instrument Panel Retainer Screw (Qty: 1)

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Tip
This screw is driven from front of car to rear of car, all other screws are driven from rear of car to front of car.

Tighten
2.5 N·m (22 lb in)

Tighten

Instrument Panel Retainer Assembly

Procedure
