This supplement contains information specifically related to how the cellular phone interacts with your Cadillac vehicle.

The Parts of the Cellular Phone System

The cellular phone system consists of several parts including the portable handset, docking cradle, hands-free microphone, steering wheel controls and the cellular antenna.

The portable handset and docking cradle are located in the center console between the driver's and front passenger's seats.

The cellular antenna is mounted on the rear window. For more information, see Antenna .

You can operate your cellular phone by using the controls on the steering wheel. See Cellular Phone System Steering Wheel Controls .

Operating Modes

The cellular phone system operates in two different modes:

    • Hands-free: The portable handset is docked in the vehicle docking cradle. In this mode, calls can be made by voice recognition, either by the steering wheel controls or by using the buttons on the portable handset. The conversation will be carried by the audio system speakers and the hands-free microphone.
If you leave the phone in the docking cradle, it will turn on and off when you turn the ignition on and off.
    • Portable: The portable handset is disconnected from the vehicle. The phone operates as a stand alone unit. See the Cellular Telephone User Manual for information on operation.

Maintaining Phone Calls

The cellular phone system will continue a phone call under the following conditions:

    • The phone is undocked and then redocked.
    • The ignition position is changed.
    • If the ignition is turned off, the key is removed, and a door is opened.

The steering wheel controls will not have power if the vehicle is turned off, the key is removed, and a door is opened. If this occurs while you are on a call, the call must be ended by pressing the END button on the portable handset.
