Removal Procedure
- Remove the brake fluid from the master cylinder reservoir.
- Remove the master cylinder assembly from the vehicle. Refer to
Master Cylinder Replacement.
- Using a suitable drift from the inboard side of the master cylinder, carefully drive out the secondary reservoir retaining pin (1).
- Using a suitable drift from the outboard side of the master cylinder, carefully drive out the primary reservoir retaining pin (1).
- Remove the master cylinder reservoir (1).
- Remove the secondary master cylinder reservoir seal (1).
- Remove the primary master cylinder reservoir seal (2).
- If installing a new master cylinder reservoir, remove the master cylinder fluid level sensor. Refer to
Brake Fluid Level Indicator Switch Replacement.
Installation Procedure
- If installing a new master cylinder reservoir, install the master cylinder fluid level sensor. Refer to
Brake Fluid Level Indicator Switch Replacement.
- If installing the original master cylinder reservoir, clean the master cylinder reservoir with denatured alcohol and dry with filtered, non-lubricated compressed air.
- Install the secondary master cylinder reservoir seal (1) to the master cylinder reservoir.
Lubricate the seal with Delco Supreme 11®, GM P/N 12377967 (Canadian P/N 992667),
or equivalent DOT-3 brake fluid from a clean, sealed brake fluid container
- Install the primary master cylinder reservoir seal (2) to the master cylinder reservoir.
Lubricate the seal with Delco Supreme 11®, GM P/N 12377967 (Canadian P/N 992667), or equivalent DOT-3
brake fluid from a clean, sealed brake fluid container.
- Install the master cylinder reservoir (1).
Carefully press the master cylinder reservoir into the master cylinder body until the pin holes are aligned.
- Using a suitable drift from the inboard side of the master cylinder, carefully drive in the primary reservoir retaining pin (1).
- Using a suitable drift from the outboard side of the master cylinder, carefully drive in the secondary reservoir retaining pin (1).
- Install the master cylinder assembly. Refer to
