Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1895747  Size: SH
  1. Remove the brake fluid from the master cylinder reservoir.
  2. Remove the master cylinder assembly from the vehicle. Refer to Master Cylinder Replacement.
  3. Using a suitable drift from the inboard side of the master cylinder, carefully drive out the secondary reservoir retaining pin (1).

  5. Using a suitable drift from the outboard side of the master cylinder, carefully drive out the primary reservoir retaining pin (1).

  6. Object Number: 1895822  Size: SH
  7. Remove the master cylinder reservoir (1).

  8. Object Number: 1895835  Size: SH
  9. Remove the secondary master cylinder reservoir seal (1).
  10. Remove the primary master cylinder reservoir seal (2).
  11. If installing a new master cylinder reservoir, remove the master cylinder fluid level sensor. Refer to Brake Fluid Level Indicator Switch Replacement.

Installation Procedure

  1. If installing a new master cylinder reservoir, install the master cylinder fluid level sensor. Refer to Brake Fluid Level Indicator Switch Replacement.
  2. If installing the original master cylinder reservoir, clean the master cylinder reservoir with denatured alcohol and dry with filtered, non-lubricated compressed air.

  3. Object Number: 1895835  Size: SH
  4. Install the secondary master cylinder reservoir seal (1) to the master cylinder reservoir.
  5. Lubricate the seal with Delco Supreme 11®, GM P/N 12377967 (Canadian P/N 992667), or equivalent DOT-3 brake fluid from a clean, sealed brake fluid container

  6. Install the primary master cylinder reservoir seal (2) to the master cylinder reservoir.
  7. Lubricate the seal with Delco Supreme 11®, GM P/N 12377967 (Canadian P/N 992667), or equivalent DOT-3 brake fluid from a clean, sealed brake fluid container.

  8. Install the master cylinder reservoir (1).
  9. Carefully press the master cylinder reservoir into the master cylinder body until the pin holes are aligned.

  10. Using a suitable drift from the inboard side of the master cylinder, carefully drive in the primary reservoir retaining pin (1).

  11. Object Number: 1895747  Size: SH
  12. Using a suitable drift from the outboard side of the master cylinder, carefully drive in the secondary reservoir retaining pin (1).
  13. Install the master cylinder assembly. Refer to Master Cylinder Replacement.
