Windshield Wiper Transmission Replacement LHD

Tools Required

    • J 39232 Wiper Linkage Separator
    • J 39529 Wiper Linkage Installer

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 798591  Size: SH
  1. Remove the wiper arm and blade assemblies. Refer to Windshield Wiper Arm Replacement .
  2. Remove the air inlet screen. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement in Body Front End.
  3. Remove the transmission drive link socket from the wiper motor crank arm using the J 39232 .

  4. Object Number: 306502  Size: SH

    Important: Rotate the transmission as necessary to extract from the plenum.

  5. Remove six screws and the transmission from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 306502  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the transmission on the vehicle with six screws.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 8 N·m (70 lb in).

  3. Install the transmission drive link socket to the wiper motor crank arm ball using the J 39529 . Ensure that the socket is fully seated on the ball.
  4. Install the air inlet screen. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement in Body Front End.
  5. Install the wiper arm and blade assemblies. Refer to Windshield Wiper Arm Replacement .

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the wiper arm and blade assemblies. Refer to Windshield Wiper Arm Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 789992  Size: SH
  3. Remove the air inlet screen. (1). Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement in Body Front End.

  4. Object Number: 798591  Size: SH
  5. Remove the transmission drive link socket from the wiper motor crank arm using the J 39232 .

  6. Object Number: 789988  Size: SH

    Important: Rotate the transmission as necessary to extract from the plenum.

  7. Remove the 6 bolts.
  8. Remove the transmission from the vehicle.

    Tighten the bolts to 8 N·m (70 lb in).

  5. Install the air inlet screen (1). Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement in Body Front End.
  6. Install the wiper arm and blade assemblies. Refer to Windshield Wiper Arm Replacement .
