Air Conditioning Evaporator Hose Assembly Replacement LHD

Tools Required

J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 291167  Size: SH
  1. Recover the refrigerant from the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Disconnect the evaporator hose assembly from the accumulator.
  3. Disconnect the evaporator hose assembly from the strut tower.

  4. Object Number: 130636  Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the evaporator hose assembly from the evaporator core line fitting.
  6. Disconnect the temperature sensor electrical connector.
  7. Remove the upper filler panel. Refer to Filler Panel Replacement - Upper in Body Front End.

  8. Object Number: 130648  Size: SH
  9. Disconnect the evaporator hose assembly from the condenser.
  10. Remove the evaporator hose assembly.

Installation Procedure

Important: Inspect the sealing washers for damage.

Replace the sealing washers that show any signs of damage.

Sealing washer do not require lubricant.

  1. Install the evaporator hose assembly to the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Connect the evaporator hose assembly to the condenser.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the evaporator hose assembly to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  5. Connect the evaporator hose assembly to the evaporator core.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the evaporator hose assembly to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  7. Connect the evaporator hose assembly to the accumulator.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the evaporator hose assembly to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  9. Connect the evaporator hose assembly to the strut tower.
  10. Connect the temperature sensor electrical connector.
  11. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  12. Leak test the fittings of the repaired or reinstalled component using J 39400-A .
  13. Install the upper filler panel. Refer to Filler Panel Replacement - Upper in Body Front End.

Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant from the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Disconnect the evaporator hose assembly from the accumulator.
  3. Disconnect the evaporator hose assembly from the strut tower.

  5. Disconnect the evaporator hose assembly from the evaporator core line fitting.
  6. Disconnect the temperature sensor electrical connector.
  7. Remove the upper filler panel. Refer to Filler Panel Replacement - Upper in Body Front End.
  8. Remove the master cylinder. Refer to Master Cylinder Replacement in Hydraulic Brakes.
  9. Remove the hydraulic brake booster. Refer to Power Brake Booster Replacement in Hydraulic Brakes.

  10. Object Number: 130648  Size: SH
  11. Disconnect the evaporator hose assembly from the condenser.
  12. Remove the evaporator hose assembly.

Installation Procedure

  6. Tighten
    Tighten the evaporator hose assembly to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  7. Connect the evaporator hose assembly to the accumulator.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the evaporator hose assembly to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  9. Connect the evaporator hose assembly to the strut tower.
  10. Install the hydraulic brake booster. Refer to Power Brake Booster Replacement in Hydraulic Brakes.
  11. Install the master cylinder. Refer to Master Cylinder Replacement in Hydraulic Brakes.
  12. Connect the temperature sensor electrical connector.
  13. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  14. Leak test the fittings of the repaired or reinstalled component using J 39400-A .
  15. Install the upper filler panel. Refer to Filler Panel Replacement - Upper in Body Front End.
