Operate the fuel tank filler door lock release switch.

Does the fuel door operate?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the fuel tank filler door lock release switch.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the battery positive voltage circuit of the fuel tank filler door lock release switch and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 4

Connect a test lamp between the battery positive voltage circuit of the fuel tank filler door lock release switch and the control circuit of the fuel tank filler door lock actuator.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 7

  1. Connect the fuel tank filler door lock release switch.
  2. Disconnect the fuel tank filler door lock actuator.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the control circuit of the fuel tank filler door lock actuator and a good ground.
  4. Operate the fuel tank filler door lock release switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

  1. Connect a test lamp between the control circuit of the fuel tank filler door lock actuator and the ground circuit of the fuel tank filler door lock actuator.
  2. Operate the fuel tank filler door lock release switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 8

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the fuel tank filler door lock release switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the fuel tank filler door lock release actuator. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open or high resistance in the battery positive voltage circuit of the fuel tank filler door lock release switch. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open or high resistance in the control circuit of the fuel tank filler door lock release actuator. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open or high resistance in the ground circuit of the fuel tank filler door lock release actuator. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the fuel tank filler door lock release switch.
