Adjustment Procedure
The main function of the folding top latch cable is to override the return spring,
depending on the starting position of the top. During opening or closing, if the latches
do NOT fully disengage from the eccentric pins or from the rear top support bracket,
increase the cable tension.
If the top is in the up position, the rear folding top latches (1) grasp
the eccentric pin (2) on the link.
If the top is in the down position, the latches (1) grasp the rear top
support bracket (2).
- Open
the folding top as shown in the illustration. Dimension (A) is 400 mm
(15.75 in) from the windshield header to the leading edge of the folding top
panel.
- Place a protective covering over the interior of the vehicle and the adjacent
body panels.
- Remove the headliner. Refer to
Folding Top Headlining Trim Panel Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Adjust the cable tensioners (1), as necessary. Increasing the distance
between the cable tensioners will increase the tension on the rear folding top latches,
causing the latches to open more
- Remove the protective covering.
- Cycle the folding top under power through one complete cycle in both directions.
- Inspect the folding top for proper operation. Refer to
Power Folding Top Description and Operation
.
- Install the headliner. Refer to
Folding Top Headlining Trim Panel Replacement
in Interior Trim.
