Removal Procedure

  1. Relieve the fuel pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
  2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  3. Object Number: 758078  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the fuel feed pipe fittings (1) from both sides of the fuel filter.
  5. Remove the fuel filter mounting clamp bolt (2).
  6. Remove the filter (4) and the clamp (3) from the fuel lines.
  7. Drain any remaining fuel from the fuel pipes into an approved gasoline container.
  8. Remove the mounting clamp from the fuel filter.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 421946  Size: SH
  1. Install the mounting clamp (3) onto the fuel filter (4).
  2. Important: Be sure to install the fuel filter with the embossed arrow pointing in the direction of fuel flow.

  3. Install the fuel filter (4) and clamp (3) to the fuel pipes.

  4. Object Number: 420635  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Connect the fuel feed pipe fittings (1) to the fuel filter.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the fuel feed pipe fittings to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  7. Install the clamp bolt (2).
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the fuel filter mounting clamp bolt to 11 N·m (97 lb in).

  9. Connect the negative battery cable.
  10. Inspect for leaks using the following procedure:
  11. 6.1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF for 2 seconds.
    6.2. Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds.
    6.3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
    6.4. Inspect for fuel leaks.
